Position Summary:

We are seeking a Project Engineer with a strong QA/QC background who is passionate about driving quality, accuracy, and compliance across all phases of construction.The Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting the project superintendent or project manager in the development and coordination of all documentation, including but not limited to job scheduling, cost controls and client management of an assigned project. This position assists, and monitors the documentation required for the implementation, execution and timely completion of a project. The Project Engineer will inform all assigned project management on all aspects of job performance and assist in job purchasing within approved budgets. This position maintains a high degree of knowledge of their project plan and specifications. This position maintains a high degree of safety awareness and professionalism while maintaining all the company’s mission statement and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Know, understand and “live” the company's mission statement and values.
  • Communicate with the client in helping to understand what their objectives are and anticipate what information and services they want and need.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the prime contract as a GC and/or subcontract to a GC.
  • Prepare and be responsible for all administrative tasks as required for the assigned project(s) job setup, all logs, submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. Assist in research for prime contract change orders, and subcontract change orders.
  • Maintain communication with the client and client’s engineer as required.
  • Prepare and assist the billing process and procurement of payment from the client with oversight from his supervisor.
  • Work with the superintendent in evaluating the proper equipment needed for the project and assure company owned equipment is utilized as much as possible.
  • Review overall job cost of project and prepare a monthly report analyzing the projected job costs and man-hour productions.
  • Read and understand the plans and specifications – regularly.
  • Assist project management in directing additional job staff such as project administrators, and labor forces in their respective job duties.
  • Assist in directing and monitoring the buyout of the job including but not limited to subcontracts, purchase orders and company costs and expenses.
  • Analyze the capabilities of subcontractors and suppliers as they begin and continue their work as it relates to quality and quantity of work.
  • Assist in producing, directing and monitoring the project schedule with the superintendent and or supervisors. Provide monthly updates to the client or as directed within the guidelines of the prime contract.
  • Keep supervisors informed as to upcoming direct hire work and the jobsite needs of tools and equipment.
  • Assist project management in the process of the project closeout per the established company procedure.
  • Review and approve, as required, daily timecards for all project labor staff, union or non-union, working on their respective projects.
  • Collect and submit any and all certified payroll documents as required.
  • Comply with all company IIPP standards and company safe practices along with OSHA requirements and local Air Quality rules.
  • Support implementation and enforcement of project-specific QA/QC plans to ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate and track inspections, testing requirements, and documentation to verify quality control throughout all phases of construction.

Qualifications and Expectations:

  • Must be willing and able to travel for prolonged periods of time to project assignments
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the construction industry, preferrable in the Renewable Energy space
  • Has or will have OSHA 30 hr. training
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook or other company software)
  • Formal education in an accredited Construction Management program will serve as a substitute for a portion of the practical experience
  • Working experience in the development of major project schedules using an industry specific software (Suretrak, Primavera, Microsoft Project)
  • Working knowledge of all current SWPP requirements and air quality control
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knows and understands the various types of AIA prime contracts as well as the general conditions associated thereto
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and is insurable
  • Knowledge of electrical power grid infrastructures

Physical Abilities:

Candidates must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others including: sitting, standing, walking for extended periods of time; bending, kneeling and reaching to retrieve and file records; must possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment; must see to inspect financial or statistical records and observe computer monitor; must hear and speak at normal levels to communicate with others.
