Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Database Administrator III in Boca Raton, FL to join a high-performing database services team supporting mission-critical production environments.
Summary:
This role combines deep MySQL administration expertise with cloud, DevOps, and automation experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background supporting large-scale production databases, implementing high-availability solutions, optimizing performance, and managing cloud-based database platforms. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on innovation, operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement across enterprise database environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support MySQL database environments across development, test, and production platforms
* Design, build, and maintain highly available database solutions
* Configure, manage, and troubleshoot MySQL replication environments
* Perform database administration activities including monitoring, tuning, backups, recovery, patching, and upgrades
* Optimize database performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement
* Support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives
* Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and CI/CD processes
* Implement and support database observability, monitoring, and alerting platforms
* Collaborate with technical teams to plan and deliver database projects
* Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical production issues
* Drive automation and process improvement initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered
* 5+ years of MySQL Database Administration experience
* Experience supporting production database environments throughout the full database lifecycle
* Experience with backup and recovery tools, including Percona XtraBackup and snapshot technologies
* Strong performance tuning and query optimization experience
* Experience supporting cloud-based database platforms and managed services
* Knowledge of Azure and/or AWS database services
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools, including Terraform, Terragrunt, and GitHub Actions
* Experience with database monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, ELK, Splunk, or similar
* Strong expertise with MySQL replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, or Microsoft SQL Server
* Experience managing multi-region and multi-zone database replication strategies
* Automation experience using Bash, Python, and/or Ansible
* Experience supporting cloud infrastructure environments
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
