POSITION CONCEPT
Designs, implements, and maintains all components of Database Management Systems (DBMSs). ย Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring databaseโ€“related projects and maintenance activities. ย Develops and implements database strategies that support corporate-wide access to business data.

Entry-level Database Administrator (DBA) position that supports a limited number of databases with frequent supervision. ย 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESย 
1. ย  ย Perform database-related activities in support of development projects or off-the-shelf software implementations. ย Identify opportunities to reduce data-redundancy and utilize single sources of data.
2. ย  ย Support systems development staff in understanding application data requirements and developing logical database models. ย Convert logical database designs to physical database models and develops the Data Definition Language (DDL) to create appropriate database objects. ย 
3. ย  ย Implement appropriate database backup and recovery strategies with oversight from more senior DBA staff. ย Perform database recovery and restoration as instructed.
4. ย  ย Provide on-call support to troubleshoot database problems on a twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week basis. ย Participate with other members of the Database Administration (DBA) staff in ensuring primary and secondary/backup support is always available for critical TECO Energy databases.
