Job description


The School of Marketing and Innovation at the Muma College of Business, University of South Florida, invites applications for a full-time Instructor position in Marketing based on its Tampa campus. Candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree (PhD. or DBA preferred) in a related field from an accredited University or expect to complete such a degree prior to the start date. Significant professional work experience in marketing is preferred, and strong connections to the local business community are a plus.
The successful candidate will be able to effectively teach a variety of marketing and sales courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ability to effectively teach Professional Selling is especially important. Substantial student-centered service to the institution is also expected, including but not limited to potentially serving as a faculty advisor to a student organization. This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure-track position. Compensation for summer courses, when scheduled, is in addition to the base salary.
The School of Marketing and Innovation at USF's Muma College of Business offers cutting-edge undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs across three campuses in Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain Management, and Advertising, including a PhD concentration in Marketing. The school's Center for Marketing and Sales Innovation leverages a state-of-the-art biometric-equipped Customer Experience and Artificial Intelligence Lab, and it also hosts one of the largest intercollegiate sales competitions in the world. The undergraduate AMA chapter has ranked as high as #4 among over 300 collegiate chapters.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibility is teaching; assignments may also include research, service, and/or academic advising and related activities, and the position may represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or statewide committees.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. A Master's, PhD, or DBA in in a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  2. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Instructor or Assistant Professor of Instruction.
  3. Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.
    • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
    • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
    • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
    • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
    • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
    • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
    • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
    • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
