Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, dependable Carpenter to join a growing contracting company. This hands-on position is responsible for completing residential and/or commercial construction, renovation, and remodeling projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of carpentry methods, construction materials, hand and power tools, and jobsite safety. Candidates should be able to work independently, follow plans and specifications, solve problems in the field, and collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and other crew members.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rough and finish carpentry on construction, renovation, and remodeling projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood and other building materials.
- Frame walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, door openings, and window openings.
- Install doors, windows, cabinets, trim, molding, baseboards, shelving, and hardware.
- Build and install stairs, decks, railings, partitions, and other structural or finished components.
- Repair or replace damaged framing, flooring, siding, drywall, and finish materials.
- Complete demolition and site-preparation work as required.
- Verify dimensions, elevations, levels, and alignment throughout each project.
- Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and construction equipment safely.
- Identify jobsite problems and recommend practical solutions.
- Coordinate daily work with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and customers.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Protect customer property and completed work from damage.
- Track materials and notify supervisors of supply or equipment needs.
- Follow project schedules and complete assigned work within established deadlines.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company standards, building codes, and customer expectations.
- Assist and train less-experienced carpenters or laborers when needed.
- Perform additional construction duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional carpentry or construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience with rough and/or finish carpentry.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, measurements, and written work instructions.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and jobsite safety practices.
- Proficiency with common carpentry hand and power tools.
- Ability to accurately measure, calculate, cut, and install materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable attendance and professional conduct.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Ability to travel to local or regional jobsites.
- Ability to pass any required background check, motor vehicle review, or drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with residential remodeling, commercial construction, or general contracting.
- Experience with both rough and finish carpentry.
- Knowledge of local building codes and construction standards.
- Experience installing cabinets, doors, windows, flooring, siding, or trim.
- Experience leading small crews or mentoring junior employees.
- OSHA training or other construction-safety certification.
- Ability to perform minor drywall, painting, concrete, or general repair work.
- Possession of basic personal hand tools
