Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus. Job Summary The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for and Administrative Assistant II, Student Engagement and Success. The administrative assistant for student engagement and success provides administrative and secretarial support to the AVP for Student Success and the AVP for Student Engagement, who are co-located. The administrative assistant will assist both AVP's with administrative and operational activities, as well as support the departments within the AVPs structure. This position must possess interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and colleagues. The administrative assistant must have the ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize tasks. Uniform will be provided for required UNG and SOS events. Some night and weekend work required.   • Manage AVP Engagement and AVP Student Success meeting and travel calendar and assist with special events.
  • Departmental support to all areas the AVPs supervises.
  • Assists with budget management for the AVPs, including tracking budget expenditures, creating purchase requests, check requests, and ordering.
  • Remains informed of problems, situations, and conditions of special interest to the Associate Vice Presidents; exercises independent judgment concerning matters requiring the AVP's attention to ensure timely action.
  • Represents the AVPs by welcoming guests, responding to inquiries from UNG constituencies, functioning as a liaison among administration, students, faculty, staff, and the University in a customer-focused, quality-conscious work environment.
  • Assists with entering and maintaining records for the AVPs such as assessment data.
  • Serves as a resource referral for students, faculty, and staff seeking assistance within one of the AVPs areas and within the division of student engagement and success.
  • Access to Slate, Maxient, Banner, and UNG Connect to pull relevant information requested by the AVPs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, systems and equipment.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, or other office software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records, gather and process information
  • Ability to work unsupervised; ability to calm agitated students and parents
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality (FERPA).
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Uniform will be provided for required UNG and SOS events. Some night and weekend work required.
  • Five (5) years' experience in customer service roles (i.e. higher education, volunteer work, leadership positions in college, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a client-faced, customer service role, with event registration systems and event logistics preferred but not required.
Proposed Salary
  • The proposed salary is: $17.06-$18.77 hour.
