This Underwriting Assistant will work closely with Underwriters to become familiar with underwriting operations, policies, and procedures. This position will field questions from both external and internal contacts, handle renewal set-ups and endorsement processing under the direct supervision of an underwriter and may assist underwriters by reviewing underwriting reports and processing loss data.
The Underwriting Assistant will a Hybrid schedule in the Bothell, WA Office.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all policy support procedures with respect to Commercial General Liability, Property, Auto, Excess and Umbrella lines of business: submissions, quotations, binding, issuance, endorsements, cancellation and non-renewal notices, inspection requests and loss run reports.
- Assist Underwriting Staff by requesting additional information from brokers necessary for the proper processing of applications, endorsements, and cancellations including any underwriting related reports from external sources. Perform routine follow-ups and referrals for same.
- Assist Underwriters by handling broker's verbal and written requests.
- Assist Underwriters by processing a preliminary evaluation of company loss experience for individual accounts.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding resolving internal and external processing issues and problems.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by management
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-3 years of similar work-related job experience.
- An understanding of commercial insurance and rating function preferred.
- Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word and agency management systems.
- Past experience with a paperless environment helpful.
- Analytical skills needed along with a comfort level while working with basic mathematical computations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess the ability to use time effectively & efficiently while maintaining a high level of organization.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team effectively.
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
