About Us

Schwartzer Tax & Accounting PLLC is a boutique CPA firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, serving high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, trusts, fiduciary entities, and real estate investors. We specialize in tax compliance, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and proactive advisory services with a strong emphasis on quality, responsiveness, and long-term client relationships.

We leverage a modern technology platform that combines UltraTax CS, SurePrep, SafeSend, Ignition, QuickBooks Online, and cloud-enabled workflow systems designed to streamline compliance, improve collaboration, and enhance the client experience.

With consistent year-over-year growth, we are intentionally transitioning from an owner-centered compliance model to a scalable advisory-driven firm. We are expanding our leadership team to support sustainable growth, improve review capacity, and reduce partner workload.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager / Client Manager to join our leadership team. This is a strategic hire designed to serve as a senior reviewer, technical resource, client relationship leader, and mentor to a growing team.

This role is intended to assume responsibility for the majority of the firm’s compliance and review activities, allowing the Partner to focus on high-value advisory work, strategic planning, business development, and key client relationships.

This position will serve as the leader of the firm’s Client Delivery function and will work closely with firm leadership to improve processes, develop staff, strengthen client relationships, and support the firm’s continued growth.

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • Successfully assumed ownership of approximately 80–90% of the firm’s compliance and review activities, allowing the Partner to focus more heavily on advisory services, client relationships, and firm growth initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary reviewer and technical resource for the firm.
  • Resolve the majority of technical and workflow questions without partner involvement.
  • Manage client relationships and communicate directly with clients.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff members.
  • Participate in tax planning and advisory engagements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review complex individual, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns prepared by staff.
  • Serve as the firm’s primary technical reviewer and quality-control lead for tax engagements.
  • Prepare select individual and business tax returns as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with federal and state tax laws.
  • Resolve most technical and workflow questions independently, escalating only high-risk or strategic issues.
  • Mentor and support tax staff through coaching, review notes, and technical guidance.
  • Assist with staff development, workflow management, and review processes.
  • Participate in year-round tax planning and advisory engagements.
  • Support onboarding of new clients and assist with complex tax and entity planning discussions.
  • Identify discrepancies in returns and financial statements and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Maintain proficiency in firm systems, including UltraTax CS, SurePrep, SafeSend, Ignition, and QuickBooks Online.
What We’re Looking For
  • Active CPA license (required)
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience, including meaningful tax return review responsibilities and direct client interaction
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and signing off on complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, and fiduciary tax returns
  • Experience serving as a primary reviewer, senior reviewer, supervisor, manager, or similar leadership role preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge across individual, business, and fiduciary taxation
  • Ability to resolve the majority of technical tax issues independently with minimal partner involvement
  • Experience managing client relationships and communicating directly with business owners and individual clients
  • Leadership mindset with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop a growing tax team
  • Experience with UltraTax CS Suite, SurePrep, SafeSend, Ignition, and QuickBooks Online preferred
Long-Term Opportunity

This role is intended to be a long-term leadership position within the firm. The right candidate will have the opportunity to help shape processes, mentor team members, strengthen client relationships, and play a key role in the firm’s continued growth. For someone interested in making a meaningful impact within a growing boutique practice, this position offers significantly more influence and autonomy than is often available in larger firms.

Why Join Our Firm?
  • Modern technology stack designed to reduce administrative burden and improve efficiency
  • Opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing advisory-focused firm
  • Direct access to firm leadership and meaningful input into processes and client service
  • Exposure to complex tax planning and advisory engagements
  • A true leadership opportunity with autonomy, influence, and a clear path for long-term growth
  • Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
Benefits:
  • 401(k)
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Active CPA license (required)
