Job description

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Perform studies, design, engineering activities related to projects.
  • Design, analysis operation, and support maintenance of chemical, process gas, water, Ultra-pure water, water recycle, and waste collection systems.
  • Design of process piping systems for transmission of Ultra-pure water, specialty gasses and chemicals.
  • Provide innovative solutions to problems.
  • Support Manufacturing, ESIH, Central Plant Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Plan and prepare designs, specifications and estimates for projects compliant to local, state and federal regulations and codes.
  • Evaluate bids, submittals, and contractor/manufacturer-furnished information.
  • Evaluate facilities through studies for replacements or additions/expansions based on adequacy, capacity, convenience, reliability and safety of operations. Recommend appropriate actions which are cost effective and capable of future expansion.
  • Perform failure mode and effect analyses (FMEA) on facilities systems.
  • Inspect specific construction and/or maintenance work to ensure adherence to design plans.
  • Direct designers and drafters and support inter-discipline coordination in preparation of project documents.
  • Prepare and present information to upper management as required.
  • Support system start-up, system optimization, and shut down functions. Analyze and determine root cause of factory outages due to system failures.
  • Be available to provide direction for restoration to operation in the event of system failures, breakdowns, or other emergency situations.
  • Support operations personnel in establishing preventive maintenance and service programs, procedures, and record systems.
  • Ability to function effectively with peers inside and outside the organization.
  • Actively demonstrate ownership of issues.
  • Perform various field measurements (flows, pressures, etc.), analysis of field data, and recommendations for corrective actions. Field work may need to be conducted in hazardous areas or under hazardous conditions. Physical work is often required. Confined space entry and respirator training will be provided.
  • Identify and implement energy, water, and cost reduction projects.
  • Develop key performance indicators to monitor facilities systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience.
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis software.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with knowledge or capacity to learn Visual Basic.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • EIT or PE is preferred.
  • Austin Regional Role. Job role requires the support of two Austin semiconductor factories
  • Root cause problem solving skills
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis or drafting using computer-aided design software
