Tatte Bakery & Café is an inspired, scratch-based bakery and café founded by pastry chef Tzurit Or. THE ROLE
As a Sous Chef at Tatte, you will help lead all kitchen operations within your café while supporting the growth and development of your kitchen team. You'll oversee daily production and service, coach and develop team members, and ensure every dish meets Tatte's standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.
You may supervise up to 25 team members, including Zone Leaders, Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about scratch cooking, hospitality, and developing others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily kitchen production and service according to company standards.
  • Ensure recipes, portioning, and presentation standards are consistently followed.
  • Complete daily management responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the menu through daily tasting.
  • Coach and develop kitchen team members in food preparation, equipment operation, food safety, and sanitation.
  • Maintain cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Manage inventory while maintaining food cost and operational standards.
  • Assist with the execution of seasonal menu changes.
  • Support overall kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 3 years of culinary or kitchen management experience in a high-volume food service environment.
  • Passion for scratch cooking and culinary excellence.
  • Strong understanding of food quality, presentation, food safety, sanitation, and food cost controls.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Culinary degree or certificate with relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with UKG/UltiPro, Toast POS, CrunchTime, and Teamworx is preferred.
  • Current ServSafe, Allergen, and Chokesaver certifications are preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work shifts of 10 or more hours.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and move throughout the shift.
  • Ability to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
