Job description

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Patient Service Representative provides front desk support by performing a variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas: greets patients, check-in and check-out procedures, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, authorization verification, updating patient demographics, audit billing documents, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, lab order release, reception of specimens, label printing, and working closely with Center physicians, nurses, staff, and other UCSD departments. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.
  • Demonstrated computer skills/ability to work between multiple systems during calls.
  • Ability to work in an interactive environment.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-specialty clinic.
  • Authorization and registration experience.
  • Laboratory Services experience.
  • EPIC & Soft Label experience.
  • General knowledge of various lab orders & specimen collection.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours based on business needs. Possible overtime.
  • Must be willing and able to float to other departments &/or locations as requested.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $60,865 - $75,669 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.15 - $36.24

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
