Job description

IR Clinic Call Center Specialist - Per Diem

Reporting to the Interventional Radiology Procedural Supervisor and under the supervision of the Interventional Radiology Clinic Supervisor, the Interventional Radiology Scheduler is primarily responsible for coordinating and scheduling interventional radiology clinic appointments, and procedures for multiple physicians and advanced practice providers at UCSD Hillcrest and Jacobs Medical Centers. This role manages all procedural scheduling activities within the Epic system, including Optime and Radiant, screens patients using medical terminology and procedural requirements, and serves as a liaison between internal and external clinical teams to ensure efficient and accurate coordination of care. The position also answers and manages multiple telephone lines, provides exceptional customer service, completes patient registration, bulk registrations as needed, insurance verification and authorization, and maintains referral databases and scheduling metrics. Clinic support functions, including front desk coverage and assistance with referrals, registration, and other operational needs, are provided as needed to support overall clinic workflow. The role requires strict adherence to scheduling protocols, telephone scripting, and departmental policies, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment while contributing to a collaborative team culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of related call center and front desk experience in a large complex healthcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a call center and/or customer service environment.
  • Epic Cadence scheduling experience or similar function.
  • Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state and private health plans.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Proven ability to handle multi-line incoming customer calls, schedule appointments, and perform online registration.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data entry experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $72,328 - $72,328 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.64 - $34.64
