JOB OVERVIEW

The Manager, Marketing and Communication, International Activities, partners in the development and implementation of proactive, strategically driven marketing communication plans to support the business development efforts of ACGME International (ACGME-I) and ACGME Global Services. This position is the lead communications professional responsible for maintaining and proposing appropriate channels, including creating new ones, to effectively reach these international audiences, including current stakeholders. The Manager also supports broader communication efforts of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify communications needs and promotional channels for ACGME-I and Global Services stakeholders based on organizational priorities, including target audiences, differentiation of GME standards and situations in various areas of the world, and present communications options to internal stakeholders for reaching those audiences.
  • Develop communication strategies and approaches, including identifying target audiences and channels, and recognizing and adapting to local conditions, cultural dynamics, and the extensive variations in graduate medical education (GME) and accreditation systems in other areas of the world.
  • Draft and implement strategic communication plans and implement tactics, such as promotional text, web page content, press releases, brochures, social media posts, blog posts, scripts for podcasts and videos, and in other formats in alignment with established ACGME and ACGME-I editorial style and in cooperation with ACGME Digital Learning.
  • Coordinate web page design and content development, working with the ACGME Web Team to launch new web pages; assist the Web Team in maintaining international-related web pages, including the entire ACGME-I website.
  • Support the editorial services function within the department, following the ACGME and ACGME-I Editorial Style Guides and The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Working with ACGME-I, Global Services and the ACGME editorial team, support the development of the ACGME-I Annual Reports.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of professional or experience in international communications.
  • Background knowledge and willingness to learn about the range of medical education and accreditation systems that exist in other areas of the world.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing and communications campaigns, working with internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to target communications to specific audiences in a variety of media, including social media, web copy, newsletter content, video scripts, etc.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures, and ability to adapt communication and writing styles to them as appropriate.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, such as Hootsuite, and media listening platforms, such as Meltwater.
  • Ability to create web text for international audiences and work with the Web Team to create and maintain web pages that communicate clearly, are well designed, and achieve the goals of communications plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities, and to operate efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with an ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred
  • Several years of experience working in a health care, academic, or not-for-profit setting.
  • Experience working with executives and board members.
  • Experience working with a content management system, such as Optimizely.
  • Experience drafting scripts for promotional podcasts and videos.
  • Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Experience with blog writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
  • This position is based in a typical office environment with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
  • This is a hybrid position, where the work will be performed in the ACGME office and/or home office. Currently, the ACGME expects all staff members to work in the office two days per week. This schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the ACGME.
