SCOPE: Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site's building, grounds, assets, employees and visitors against criminal activity. Armed Security Officers at this location will work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local headquarters and will serve as a point of contact to all visitors and patrons. This is a great opportunity to work on a team and serve a truly critical purpose!

COMPENSATION:

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Must provide exceptional customer service.
  • Guard posts at the entry / exit points of the local base.
  • Conduct foot & vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
  • Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
  • Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities
  • Must follow site specific post guidelines.
  • Document daily activities and report all incidents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067 §17(Must also be at least 21 years old and be a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work).
  • Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
  • Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
  • Must adhere to our company's Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. This includes the ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • If driving company or client vehicles, or if using your own vehicle for work activities, must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license and have a clean driving record with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years.
  • Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and be capable of administering this care in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to pass a Physical Agility Test within 90 days of hire, and annually thereafter. The PAT includes activities such as sprinting, sit-ups, push-ups, and a 1.5-mile run (all activities are timed events).
  • Must be physically and mentally sound and able to always remain alert while on duty. (Armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire.)
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours)
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment
  • Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments
  • Must be able to lift up to 70lbs
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
