Secretary I - Riddle School District
Riddle School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Secretary I to begin in the 2026-27 school year. 244 days per year, 6 hours per day, 5 days per week. This position will be assisting with the Special Education program.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing general administrative office support, performing a wide variety of clerical work for the efficient operation of the school or department and greeting the public. Performs duties with close supervision.
PAY RATE: $19.23 - $21.87 per hour (Depending on relevant verifiable experience.)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides administrative support to school staff and administration.
  • Schedule meetings, trainings, evaluations, and appointments for administration as requested.
  • Assists with managing special education files including ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Assists with tracking timelines and deadlines related to evaluations, eligibility determinations, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and annual reviews.
  • Assist with data entry and recordkeeping student information systems.
  • Ability to assist families with obtaining information, completing forms, and accessing district resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, specialists, service providers and outside agencies.
  • Performs general office duties including answering multi-line phones, greeting the public, typing, filing, sorting and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Process student registrations, withdrawals, student cumulative files, and student conference materials.
  • Ensures that substitute teacher requests are made and completes required paperwork when current teachers are absent.
  • Supervises students in office for detention purposes.
  • Greets parents and visitors, and responds to inquiries or refers to appropriate staff member.
  • Submit annual reports to ODE.
  • Provide first aid and related health care to students; bandage minor injuries, take temperatures, check for head lice, and provide emotional comfort for students; communicate with parents regarding ill students; in some circumstances assess critical medical or health emergencies and initiate appropriate response, assist students who have physical disabilities, and dispense prescribed medications in accordance with district policy and procedures. Assists in administering medications within the scope of District policies and state and federal law.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student and staff information. Answer and screen telephone calls and take messages, respond to inquiries, provide information about school and bus schedules and refer to appropriate staff member. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries.
  • Type correspondence for principal and material for teachers and run off copies; update and print school handbook, checklists, and newsletters; maintain school files including correspondence, building use, payroll data and student insurance; attend school meetings and take minutes as requested. Performs a variety of administrative tasks, including answering telephones, routing telephone calls or messages to appropriate staff, assisting tardy students, operating and troubleshooting general office machinery, typing, proofreading, filing, sorting, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Order and maintain an inventory of school supplies; receive, distribute, or store supplies. Prepares requisitions for staff reimbursements, purchase order, and school orders.
  • Compile, coordinate, monitor, maintain a variety of financial and statistical records and accounts related to school activities and be accountable for petty cash and student body accounts. Completes a high volume of computer work, using District computer programs, to input high volumes of data with speed and accuracy, including confidential data, in an environment with constant interruptions.
  • Maintain current health, medication, accident and immunization records, forms and reports and distributes as required communicating with parents on immunizations needed.
  • Prepares and makes bank deposits on a weekly basis.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory system and orders supplies for the building.
  • Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
  • Professionally represents the school and the district in interactions with parents, staff, and students.
  • Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior successful experience working in a school office setting strongly preferred.
