Job description

Salary:

Nairad Health, a behavioral health outpatient facility in St Joseph, is seeking a Administrative Assistant. This position provides direct support to staff and patients in accordance with licensing requirements, accreditation, and Nairad Healths guidelines. Works cooperatively with patients, staff, coordinating agencies, and visitors to ensure services are delivered in a friendly and professional manner.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Sign-in incoming patients in the waiting room
  • Collect fees from patients
  • Keep accurate payment accounts of each patient
  • Ensures safety and confidentiality of patients information by following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rule and the Federal confidentiality rules (42 CFR Part 2)
  • Inform the program directors of rule violation or safety issues regarding patients
  • Process incoming calls
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal with coordinating agencies on behalf of the patient and the organization
  • Do dictation or typing as needed
  • Assist in filing for nurses and counselors


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain professional demeanor and appearance
  • Participate in team building activities
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as required
  • Utilize correct spelling and grammar in written reports/correspondence
  • Assist in emergency situations (example: calling 911)
  • Assist in other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/TRAINING:


  • Typing and/or data entry skills
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers and software to include word-processing and database management


CHARACTERISTICS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:


  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
