Job description

The AV Engineering Specialists supports the technical operations of Facilities Management by ensuring the reliable performance of the institutional cable and IPTV, Free to Guest and On Demand TV systems, audiovisual control systems. As part of a service-focused technical environment, the AV Engineering Specialists plays a key role in maintaining and designing the audio/video capabilities for classrooms, conference rooms, auditoriums and institutional events. The AV Engineering Specialists works closely with internal teams and clients to deliver dependable operational support.
MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. In this setting, the AV Engineering Specialists contributes to a strong technical infrastructure that supports communication, education, and collaboration across the organization. The AV Engineering Specialists are essential to maintaining the technology that enables seamless information sharing and institutional learning.
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience as an AV Technician / Field Engineer and the ability to manage projects and complex timelines. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot enterprise-level Audio Visual systems. AMX, Crestron or QSYS programming experience recommended, detail-oriented, skilled in audiovisual systems, and experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting videoconference, multimedia, or broadcast technologies. A background in installing or operating cable TV, control systems, or related equipment is valuable, as are any certifications in audiovisual technologies or electronics. Strong customer service skills and experience supporting live events.
This role requires strong engineering, design, and advanced troubleshooting capabilities. We are seeking a candidate with broad, field engineer level experience who can introduce new expertise, drive innovation, and provide deeper technical capability to the team.
The salary range is $60,500 - $75,500 - $90,500
The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm; some after-hours and occasional weekend work may occur.
Work location: Facility Center and other locations based on project needs.

Multimedia Audio/Video systems maintenance, commissioning and installation Maintain, Configure, Troubleshoot and Install, Audio Visual systems for institutional and Event Operations clients.
Audio/Video systems operations Operate in a knowledgeable and efficient manner, all Audio Visual equipment and systems used in daily TOC and Event Operations activities.
Television engineering support for television productions Engineering support for UTTV, Creative Services and Event Operations productions
Other duties as required Assist Management Team with assigned tasks and projects as required.
EDUCATION
  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree Electronics discipline.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Electronics discipline.

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 7 years Relevant experience. or
  • Required: 5 years Relevant experience with Associate's degree. or
  • Required: 3 years Relevant experience with Bachelor's degree.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Preferred: Certified Broadcast Television Engineer (CBTE) Certification by the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) as a Senior Broadcast Television Engineer
  • Preferred: Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) Society of Cable Television Engineers (SCTE) as a Senior Cable Technician.
  • Preferred: Avixa CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D and other related AV Certification
  • Preferred: Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp and Q-Sys Lua programming
