Description
The College Development Director oversees many aspects of James River College (JRC) specifically in the areas that position JRC for future growth and assist with academic progress. The responsibilities of the College Development Director include admissions and enrollment, accreditation compliance & pursuit, academic development, and all other duties assigned by the James River College Director.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Admissions & Enrollment
  • Provide leadership to the Admissions Team by setting goals and creating systems to obtain them.
  • Ensure systems and processes are implemented and followed that promote growth.
  • Ensure compliance with Evangel University protocols.
  • Improve systems, processes, deadlines, and communication for helping new and returning students finish registration checklists each semester.
  • Assist with scholarship selection and management.

College Communications
  • Assist the James River College Director with oversight of phone, email, text, or other communications to students, parents, practicum leaders, James River Church Staff, Evangel Staff, and external contacts throughout the year.
  • Improve and implement communication plans for Orientation and Graduation.
  • Improve and facilitate communication regarding registration checklists and admissions processes.
  • Manage data collection and reporting at the direction of the James River College Director.

Student Life and Retention
  • Assist in spiritual development of James River College students

- Enforcing behavior policy and leadership covenant.
- Scheduling student disciplinary meetings.
- Scheduling student counseling meetings.
  • Assist in coordination and oversight of student ministry practicums.

- Communication with practicum leaders.
- Maintain academic standards for practicum.
  • Create and collect data points to measure student engagement and retention.
  • Oversight of student safety initiatives.
  • Oversight of James River College Student urgent communications.

Academic Experience
  • Manage the James River College academic/class schedule under the direction of the James River College Director.
  • Assist in ensuring all James River College classes are provided with an in-person professor.
  • Oversight for Academic Scheduling

- Improve and facilitate systems and processes for creating new and returning student schedules
each semester.
- Oversee communication to students about available courses and schedule changes.
- Oversee communication to professors about potential time conflicts or schedule changes.
  • Assist in keeping JRC's degree plan offerings updated and relevant for students
  • Provide leadership to the college residents, tutors, and any additional team involved with students' academic experience.
  • Cultivate the academic success of students by.

- Reviewing a recurring academic report of struggling students.
- Manage tutors and/or adjustments to practicum schedules for struggling students.
- Provide coaching and leadership development for struggling students to position them for
future success.
Accreditation
  • Oversee the pursuit of accreditation under the direction of the James River College Director.
  • Implement processes for obtaining accreditation and a future 4-year degree.
  • Build relationships and strategies that ensure a smooth implementation process.
  • Manage data collection and reporting at the direction of the James River College Director.

Requirements
  • Master's Degree from an accredited College/University.
  • 3 years' experience in student and/or young adult ministry.
  • 3 years' experience leading and managing a team or department
  • This position requires that the candidates be actively attending and have completed grow track with approval as a dream team member.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures, filing, telephone techniques, and office equipment; as well as English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to get along well with others and handle confidential matters.
  • Ability to manage time and multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally orally and in writing.
  • PC skills including spreadsheet, database query, and word processing.
  • Must be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
  • Exhibit professionalism and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Capacity to interact positively with and provide service to others at all levels within JRC.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervising personnel, co-workers, civic organizations, business professionals, and the general public.
