Position Summary

Ameristar Manufacturing is seeking an experienced CNC Turret Press Operator to join our fabrication team. This position is intended for a skilled operator who is comfortable setting up, operating, adjusting, and troubleshooting a CNC turret punch press in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will primarily operate our LVD Strippit PX 1530 CNC Turret Press featuring 25+ tool stations. This individual will maximize machine uptime, ensure quality production, and maintain efficient workflow while producing precision sheet metal components.

Candidates with fiber laser experience are encouraged to apply, as opportunities exist to cross-train and operate our Amada Ventis 3015AJ 6k Fiber Laser.

The LVD Strippit PX 1530 is designed for high-speed CNC punching, forming, tapping, and precision sheet metal fabrication with rapid tool changes and automated programming capabilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor the LVD Strippit PX 1530 CNC Turret Press.
  • Set up tooling and verify proper tool selection for production jobs.
  • Load programs and review work orders before production.
  • Adjust machine offsets and settings to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Perform tool changes and monitor tooling condition throughout production.
  • Read blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
  • Inspect parts during production to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and assist with process improvements.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and daily inspections.
  • Maintain accurate production counts and documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Scheduling, and Quality to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Cross-train and assist in other fabrication departments, including fiber laser operations, as production demands require.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating a CNC Turret Press is required.
  • Experience operating an LVD Strippit, Amada, Trumpf, Finn-Power, or similar CNC punch press is highly preferred.
  • Ability to set up tooling and make machine adjustments independently.
  • Strong blueprint reading and print interpretation skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining production goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, kneel, reach, and climb as necessary.
  • Safely operate forklifts or overhead cranes (training available if needed).
  • Work safely around industrial manufacturing equipment.
