Sales Representative - Ocean Transportation (Inside & Outside)
Location: Miami, FL (Inside role: office-based / hybrid; Outside role: territory travel required)
Compensation: Up to $60,000
Employment type: Full-time
A growing ocean-transportation firm is hiring two sales-focused roles - an Inside Sales Representative and an Outside Sales Representative - to expand business in the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, and the northern U.S. markets. The roles require commercial awareness of ocean freight, excellent client skills, and a results-driven approach.
Core responsibilities (both roles)

  • Generate new business and qualify prospects across assigned markets.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers to drive repeat revenue.
  • Prepare and present rate quotes and tariff-based pricing for relevant commodities and services.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and manage contracts from proposal to execution.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity; recommend tactical sales approaches.
  • Update and maintain CRM and sales records; produce accurate reports.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
Outside Sales - additional responsibilities
  • Manage a defined territory with regular in-person client visits in the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos and northern U.S. ports/territories.
  • Develop territory-specific business plans and build local networks with shippers, brokers, and partners.
Inside Sales - additional responsibilities
  • Handle inbound leads, remote outreach, and account management from the Miami office.
  • Provide rapid rate responses, book shipments, and coordinate closely with operations and documentation teams.
Required qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience in ocean freight, marine transportation, freight forwarding, NVOCC, or related logistics sales/operations.
  • Demonstrated sales or account-management success (prospecting, closing, renewals).
  • Strong understanding of tariffs, rate building, and freight documentation.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce or similar) and Excel (including basic analytics).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license (required for Outside role).
Preferred
  • Experience with Caribbean trade lanes or working knowledge of Bahamas/Turks & Caicos markets.
  • Spanish or Creole language skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field.
