JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Department of Plant Science at Penn State is seeking a motivated and dependable student worker to support research in golf course turfgrass management. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in turfgrass science, with a focus on improving environmental stress tolerance and turf health.
Job Duties:
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of turfgrass research plots on golf course settings.
  • Apply chemical pesticides and fertilizers as directed, following all safety protocols.
  • Conduct research experiments related to turfgrass health, performance, and stress tolerance.
  • Collect, process, and record data on turfgrass growth, health, and environmental responses.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and graduate students to set up, monitor, and maintain experiments.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Background in plant science, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work early morning hours as required by research protocols.
  • Comfortable handling chemical pesticides and fertilizers (training provided).
