Job description

Description

We are looking for a highly motivated person who wants to take the next step in their career and excel in the turf industry. The Assistant-in-Training will work on a beautiful and scenic 18-hole course in a private community located in Stark County between Akron and Canton. The golf course was originally designed by Willie Park Jr in 1919, later renovated and redesigned by Donald Ross in 1929. The property also has 2 practice facilities and 2 different practice greens with nearly an acre of grass tee. The candidate will work closely with the superintendent and assistant superintendent in all aspects of daily course maintenance. 


The hired candidate will gain hands-on experience with the following: 

  • team leadership and employee training; 
  • overseeing water management with our new rain bird irrigation system;
  • usage of our 2 brand new Toro GPS Sprayers;
  • pesticide and fertilizer applications;
  • many other opportunities 

The golf course roughly sees 12,000 rounds annually, which allows for learning and growth as a professional in a supportive and top-tier environment. If you passionate about turf management and eager to grow in the industry please reach out!

Requirements

Must be able to:

  • lift 50+ pounds
  • obtain a pesticide license, if you do not have one or is expired
  • golf course experience preferred
  • landscaping experience with wanting to move into turfgrass management
  • 2 or 4 year degree in turf or related field or working toward that degree
