Join our team as a Golf Course Greens Keeper and play a vital role in maintaining exceptional playing conditions throughout the golf course. Greens Keepers are responsible for the daily maintenance, presentation, and care of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, irrigation systems, and course amenities. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to providing an outstanding golfing experience for members and guests.

As experience and skill levels increase from Greens Keeper I through Greens Keeper III, employees will assume greater responsibility for equipment operation, irrigation management, troubleshooting, and leadership of daily maintenance activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesTurf & Course Maintenance
  • Mow, edge, trim, and maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and surrounding landscapes to ensure optimal playing conditions.
  • Perform course setup duties including changing cups, setting tee markers, installing signage, and preparing the course for tournaments and special events.
  • Maintain bunkers through raking, edging, sand replacement, and repair work.
  • Assist with seeding, sod installation, aerification, topdressing, and other turf management practices.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and soil amendments in accordance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Monitor turf health and report disease, pest, irrigation, or drainage issues.
Irrigation & Water Management
  • Operate, inspect, and adjust irrigation systems to maintain proper soil moisture levels.
  • Repair sprinkler heads, valves, pipes, fittings, and irrigation components as needed.
  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust watering schedules to maximize turf health and water conservation efforts.
Equipment Operation & Mechanical Maintenance
  • Safely operate golf course maintenance equipment including riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, aerators, sprayers, spreaders, rollers, and other turf equipment.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, belts, filters, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and perform basic repairs on gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, and electric-powered equipment.
  • Sharpen, adjust, and replace mower reels, bed knives, blades, and cutting units to maintain quality playing surfaces.
  • Assist with equipment troubleshooting, maintenance scheduling, and shop organization.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs and service needs.
Safety & Team Support
  • Follow all safety procedures and proper handling practices for equipment, chemicals, and tools.
  • Identify and report course hazards, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns.
  • Assist supervisors and crew leaders with daily assignments and special projects.
  • Support team members in maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, agriculture, or related outdoor maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices, horticulture, irrigation systems, and landscape maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain golf course equipment including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, sprayers, spreaders, aerators, and other turf maintenance machinery.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs on small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and turf equipment preferred.
  • Experience sharpening and adjusting mower reels, blades, and cutting units is a plus.
  • Familiarity with irrigation system operation, diagnostics, and repair, including sprinkler heads, valves, controllers, and piping systems.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and application practices; pesticide applicator certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining exceptional course conditions and presentation standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and adapt to changing course and weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform strenuous outdoor work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, walking, bending, and operating equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and early morning schedules.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation required.
