Job description

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.
Summary
Under general direction, performs a variety of job responsibilities which may include delivery of fertilizer and chemical products to customers from the Unit office, equipment and plant maintenance work, and fertilizer blending, responsible for unloading and proper storage of turf products from commercial trucks and loading of company, Class A, delivery trucks with customer orders. Maintenance of warehouse facility, inside and out, to help ensure facility is operating in a clean manner. Respond to customer questions on turf equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • May assist with recordkeeping related to warehouse/inventory responsibilities.
  • Unload turf, seed, and fertilizer product from commercial delivery trucks. Ensure proper storage and handling of products. Load company delivery trucks with customer products. Pulls parts from inventory by use of forklift, or other company equipment.
  • Additional Key Activities: Seasonally, long hours may be required.
  • Maintenance of warehouse facility to include any repairs needed on operational equipment and troubleshooting. Ensure cleanliness of facility inside and out. Maintain clean and orderly warehouse.
  • Maintain product equipment and assist customers with equipment installation and use of turf equipment, i.e. sprayers etc. Assist in misc. warehouse duties, i.e. inventories etc. Analyze returned equipment and recommend corrective procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties such as assisting with special projects, attending training sessions, providing back-up when needed, etc.

Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
Skills & Relevant Experience
  • Two plus years related experience and/or training
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
  • Knowledge of the local geography is preferred to assist in locating farms and fields
  • Prior warehouse experience a plus, particularly in loading/unloading trucks
  • Previous Inventory or stock management experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work well as part of a team
  • Proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience using inventory management systems or willingness to learn a plus
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage time effectively

  • Forklift experience is required
  • Must be able to maintain maintenance records for equipment
  • Must be able take on dispatching duties when necessary
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs multiple times throughout the day
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
