It is the only hospital in Colorado to be rated by Medicare with five stars for overall hospital quality. It is recognized for excellence in orthopedic and spine surgery and for outstanding patient experience and patient safety. Mercy has also received ten consecutive 'A' grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. Our providers use state-of-the-art technology in an environment designed to promote wellbeing and healing of body, mind, and spirit. Among the many specialty services available at Mercy are emergency care (Level III trauma designation), surgical care, cardiac care (including interventional), Orthopedic and Spine Centers of Excellence, a Family Birthing Center, home care, hospice care and more. Durango offers an exceptional quality of life with small town charm, excellent schools, and year-round, world-class outdoor recreation opportunities including snow sports, river sports, hiking, biking, camping and more.

As our CNA/Telemetry Tech/Nursing Unit Secretary, you will serve as a vital link in our clinical team, providing essential patient care and technical support under the direction of an RN. You will play a key role in ensuring unit efficiency by balancing direct patient assistance with specialized telemetry monitoring and administrative coordination in a high-demand hospital environment.

Every day you will perform continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring, interpret ECG strips, and promptly report critical changes or arrhythmias to the nursing staff. Your responsibilities include providing patient comfort and hygiene, documenting vital signs and intake/output, managing unit clerical logs, maintaining telemetry equipment, and ensuring all patient information is accurately reconciled within our electronic records systems.

To be successful in this role, you will be a certified CNA with at least six months of clinical experience and a strong working knowledge of telemetry monitoring. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented professional who can thrive under pressure, manage multiple clinical priorities, and demonstrate clear communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Recognizes and notifies RN immediately when life-threatening arrhythmia occurs.
  • Responsible for observation and documentation of patient’s cardiac rhythm: every shift, when an arrhythmia occurs, and on each new patient as they are placed on telemetry.
  • Promptly responds to all monitor alarms according to department/hospital policy.
  • Provides quality patient care, including comfort and hygiene measures, preventative skin care, safety measures, transport, and nutritional and elimination needs.
  • Accurately documents vital signs, input/output, nutritional intake, personal hygiene, weights, and other patient care performed and reports findings promptly to Registered Nurse.
  • Promptly answers call lights and responds to patient needs. Reports patient status changes and needs to Registered Nurse accurately and in a timely manner.

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months previous CNA experience
  • Current state CNA license for applicable state of employment

Preferred

  • Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program
  • Previous telemetry experience
