Job description

The Ecclesial School offers a rich learning atmosphere, vibrant Christian community, and classical liberal arts curriculum to children of diverse social and economic backgrounds. As the pilot campus of The Ecclesial Schools Initiative network, we are educating children from the heart of the Church for the life of families, communities, and ultimately the World. The school nurse serves this mission by ensuring our students have healthy bodies in addition to healthy souls. Beyond administering medications and tending to sick or injured children, the nurse also supports wellness among students and their families as well as faculty and administration.
Responsibilities and Duties
Caring for the health of Students
  • Administers medications
  • Maintains stock of first aid supplies and basic medications
  • Advises the school leadership in first aid procedures and protocols
  • Promoting wellness in the school community
  • Promotes habits of good personal hygiene
  • Advises school leadership in decisions regarding public health
  • Advises parents about importance of sleep, nutrition, and minimizing screen time
  • Collaborates with faculty (e.g., gardening or PE) to plan wellness initiatives
  • Participating eagerly in the life of the school community
  • Prepares for and participates in professional development activities
  • Attends school activities or programs as noted on the staff calendar
  • Gives generously of time in order to foster relationships with students
  • Communicating professionally and effectively
  • Maintains timely and appropriate contact with parents
  • Speaks the truth in love to students, colleagues, and administrators
Promoting wellness in the school community
  • In collaboration with school administration, maintains documentation on internal and external policies as well email templates to the school community.
  • Promotes habits of good personal hygiene.
  • Advises school leadership in decisions regarding public health.

Requirements
Character and Disposition

Experience and Education
  • Degree in nursing or related field in medicine (minimum B.A. or B.S.).
  • Experience as a nurse or medical/health professional (3-5 years preferred).
  • Maintains First Aid and CPR certifications and continuing education to for Nursing license
  • Experience as a school nurse.
  • Experience in cross-cultural communication.

Salary Description
$25-$35/hour dependent on license and experience
