This job helps REI succeed by supporting important business needs for current and future Merchandising & Co-op Brands. These efforts help deliver on strategies to meet changing customer needs. Using exceptional collaboration skills and a merchandising background, you will work with Merchandising & Co-op Brands teams. You will also work with Information Technology and the larger REI business community to design, deliver, and support new business capabilities.
The BPA role helps design future solutions and supports current Merchandising & Co-op Brands applications. Acts as a subject matter expert on Merchandising & Co-op Brands business processes, systems, and tools. Uses exceptional communication skills to advocate for Merchandising & Co-op Brands teams on cross-divisional projects. Coordinates with cross-divisional partners and gives input to Change Management and Training activities. Models and acts according to REI's guiding values, competencies, and mission.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities
  • Contributes to business process design workshops. Advocates for business users. Understands and enables industry-leading best practices across multiple merchandising disciplines.
  • Partners with technology teams to support all Merchandising & Co-op Brands strategies and initiatives.
  • Supports the use of industry best practices, company programs, procedures, and methods. Promotes REI's business strategies and growth targets.
  • Develop and maintain a complete working knowledge and documentation of Merchandising & Co-op Brands' current and future processes. Document gaps, pain points, and applications, including business functionality, interfaces, data flow, and functional architecture.
  • Prepare requirements, functional specifications, user stories, business processes, and requests for proposals (RFPs) associated with Merchandising & Co-op Brands projects.
  • May help design or develop tools for the division. May manage systems and tools used by Merchandising & Co-op Brands teams.
  • Supports small to medium-sized projects with cross-divisional partners. Works mainly with Merchandising and Co-op Brands Information Technology (IT).
  • Participate in all project status meetings as the business manager. Attend daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, and sprint demonstrations for Agile projects. Join all other project meetings as required.
  • Supports meeting project deadlines, milestones, release dates and schedules.
  • Contribute to backlog grooming/prioritization sessions to ensure sign-off by business and development teams.
  • Contribute to dashboards, reports, presentations, and visual aids. These tools are designed to educate, inform, and influence business decisions of merchants and business leaders.
  • Develop and build test cases, work with QA teams, and conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with end-users.
  • Develop end-user documentation. Assist with training and rollout plans for new systems or system enhancements, as directed by the Manager or Change Management supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Product Design, Retail, Supply Chain, Operations or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Merchandising, product design & development, operations, process improvement or similar for related business units.
  • Advanced computer skills, to include Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint), Jira.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, business process, communication, and business acumen skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with facilitating end-user workshops and working sessions.
  • Sets effective work goals, establishing priorities and planning ahead to produce quality work.
  • Demonstrates project management skills including ability to create personal action plans and timelines, and complete action items in a timely manner.
