Dairy/Herd Health Veterinarian – Full-Time
Location: Tulare Veterinary Hospital – Tulare, California

About Us:

Tulare Veterinary Hospital is a trusted mixed animal practice serving the heart of California’s Central Valley. Our clinic combines compassionate care with progressive medicine, and we’re proud to support both beloved pets and the local agricultural community. We are seeking a Dairy Veterinarian who is dedicated to dairy herd health and reproduction, supporting long-standing family-owned dairies throughout the region.

We’re a collaborative, experienced veterinary team with deep roots in the dairy industry. Many of our client relationships span 20+ years, and we pride ourselves on being not just veterinarians, but trusted partners in herd management and farm success.

You’ll be working closely with Dr. Rodriguez, our lead dairy veterinarian, who has decades of experience in the field and a reputation for building strong client partnerships. He is passionate about mentoring and will provide ample guidance, making this an excellent opportunity for a newer grad eager to learn, or for a veterinarian wanting to deepen their expertise in herd health and production medicine.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Dairy/Herd Health Veterinarian, your work will focus on providing high-quality, preventive, and production-oriented care to large dairy herds. A typical day may include:

  • Early morning herd health visits
  • Reproductive work, pregnancy checks, and managing mastitis cases
  • Preventive herd health programs, vaccines, and disease surveillance
  • Certifying health documents (brucellosis, TB, etc.)
  • Obstetrics, including fetal extractions and occasional C-sections
  • Consulting with producers on herd management, production, and operations
  • Maintaining strong, trusting client relationships built over years of service
  • Participating in an on-call rotation (every 4th weekend) for emergency support

This is a 100% farm call role, serving herds that range from 3,000–5,000 cows,

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary: $125k–$135k, depending on experience + Production
  • No Negative Accrual
  • Sign-On Bonus: $10,000
  • Relocation Bonus: $5,000
  • Equity with Ownership Opportunities
  • Generous Benefits Package: Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance
  • Professional Growth: Annual CE allowance of $2,000, 3 days CE-specific paid time off, and access to MentorVet Leap
  • 401(k) + Matching: up to 6%
  • Flexible PTO Package with 3 Weeks of PTO!
  • Personalized, 1-on-1 Mentorship with Dr. Rodriguez
The Area

Located in California’s Central Valley, Tulare is right in the heart of dairy country, in fact, it’s home to the world-famous Tulare Ag Expo, the largest annual agricultural show in the world. The community is close-knit and deeply connected to farming, making it a great place to build lasting client relationships. Beyond the dairies, you’ll find affordable living, great schools, and easy access to both nature and city life. The Sierra Nevada mountains and Sequoia National Park are just a short drive away for weekend hiking or camping, while Fresno (45 minutes) and the California coast (2–3 hours) give you even more options for getaways.
