Position Summary
The Fabrication Shop Production Manager is responsible for leading daily fabrication shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of structural steel and metal fabrication work. This role provides hands-on leadership to shop personnel while coordinating production planning, material flow, equipment readiness, and schedule adherence in support of project delivery commitments.
The Production Manager is accountable for maximizing productivity while maintaining Greenberry’s uncompromising standards for safety, quality, and compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. This position partners closely with project management, detailing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure fabrication activities support on-time and on-budget project execution.

Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop, manage, and execute fabrication production schedules aligned with project priorities and delivery milestones.
  • Coordinate closely with detailing, procurement, and project management teams to sequence work efficiently and avoid production bottlenecks.
  • Adjust shop priorities proactively to respond to schedule changes, material availability, or project-driven demands.
Workforce Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead, schedule, and supervise fabrication shop personnel, including welders, fitters, and helpers.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement consistent with Greenberry values.
  • Support workforce development through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Serve as a visible, hands-on leader on the shop floor, setting expectations through example.
Quality Control & Safety Leadership
  • Ensure all fabricated work complies with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and Greenberry quality standards.
  • Enforce safety policies and OSHA compliance across all shop activities.
  • Lead regular safety meetings and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Partner with quality and engineering teams to resolve technical issues, nonconformances, and fabrication challenges.
Material & Inventory Management
  • Oversee steel inventory, consumables, and material tracking to support uninterrupted production.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Monitor material usage and minimize waste while maintaining fabrication quality.
Equipment & Facility Oversight
  • Ensure fabrication equipment, tools, and cranes are maintained in safe, operable condition.
  • Schedule and track preventative maintenance and repairs to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shop layout, workflow, and efficiency.
Cost & Performance Management
  • Monitor labor hours, productivity, and material usage against project budgets.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to improve shop performance.
  • Provide input and reporting on fabrication progress, labor trends, and production metrics.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven supervisory or management experience within a structural steel or industrial fabrication shop environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop drawings.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead craft personnel with clear communication, sound judgment, and accountability.
  • Systems & Tools: Experience using ERP systems or fabrication/project management software to track production and labor.
  • Hands-On Capability: Willingness and ability to serve as a working leader; proficient in welding and fabrication processes.
