Job Summary:

The Trust Officer is a fiduciary and senior relationship manager responsible for the comprehensive administration of trust, estate, and wealth management relationships, primarily serving high-net-worth individuals and families. This role requires advanced knowledge of trust law, estate settlement, investments, and taxation, as well as a strong understanding of the Quad Cities market and its unique business, family, and community dynamics. The Trust Officer serves as a trusted advisor to clients and beneficiaries, ensures compliance with governing documents and regulatory requirements, and contributes to the growth of the Trust and Wealth Management division through relationship expansion and new business development. The title and compensation level will be determined based on experience, credentials, and expertise.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Trust & Wealth Administration

  • Serve as fiduciary officer for a portfolio of complex trust, estate, and agency accounts, including multigenerational and high-net-worth relationships, ensuring administration in accordance with governing documents, fiduciary standards, and applicable laws.
  • Administer complex estates and trusts where the bank serves as executor,  administrator, or trustee, including asset management, fiduciary accountings, coordination and filing of required tax returns, distributions, and estate closings.
  • Evaluate discretionary distribution requests and provide fiduciary guidance that balances beneficiary needs, trust objectives, tax considerations, and long-term wealth preservation.
  • Partner with investment officers and advisors to ensure assets are prudently managed while identifying and mitigating fiduciary, operational, and regulatory risk.

Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Leverage trust, wealth, and regional market expertise to develop new fiduciary and investment relationships, primarily within the Quad Cities area, but also in our Stateline Market (Roscoe, IL and Beloit, WI).
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, accountants, and financial advisors, delivering tailored trust and wealth solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal bank partners to provide integrated client solutions and generate cross-referrals.
  • Build and maintain strong referral networks with Quad Cities-based centers of influence and meet business development objectives established by the Senior Trust Officer.

Community Engagement & Professional Presence

  • Represent CBI Bank & Trust within the Quad Cities community by supporting initiatives that address the fiduciary, financial planning, and legacy needs of individuals and families.
  • Maintain active participation in nonprofit, professional, or civic organizations, preferably in leadership roles.
  • Participate in client, community, and educational events to enhance visibility and strengthen client and referral relationships.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for trust and wealth management at community or professional engagements as requested.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; BS/BA preferred
  • CFTA or equivalent trust and wealth designation required
  • CPA with fiduciary and individual tax experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Trust Officer or in a comparable investment or wealth management role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Advanced knowledge of trust and estate administration, fiduciary taxation, and investment principles
  • Strong familiarity with the Quad Cities market and local professional networks
  • Proven ability to build long-term client and referral relationships
