Job description

Position Overview:
The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the accuracy of all inventory located at the Tropicale Ontario facility. They will work directly with the warehouse, procurement, production, and accounting to deliver accurate and timely inventory account updates. This role will provide direction to the Inventory Control Specialists on the off shifts.


Responsibilities:

* Develop, implement, and monitor all key functions related to inventory transactions to assure that they are accurate and timely.
* Monitors and measures receiving and warehouse performance for accuracy and timeliness of receiving reporting, movement and storage of material, and outbound transfers.
* Coordinate a cycle count program in a perpetual inventory environment.
* Coordinate the cycle count progress and results to identify necessary recounts and processes to be monitored and provide regular reporting on the results.
* Perform thorough research and document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply possible solutions.
* Work with key personnel to effectively implement process improvements to operational procedures to proactively optimize overall location and item level accuracy.
* Troubleshoot all special order problems at the time of receipt.
* Ensures receiving reports accurately report material received. Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding packing slips, and receiver reports.
* Oversees the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
* Become a Subject Matter Expert for Deacom WMS software system, creating and following SOPs as needed to ensure consistent training and methodology.
* Works directly with Quality to ensure inventory and practices meet SQF requirements.


Requirements:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Solid Math Skills and measurements are essential.
* Knowledge of Computerized equipment
* Solid Microsoft Office - Excel & Word
* Proficient in operating forklifts & other material handling equipment
* Solve problems by gathering and information and evaluating options
* Make effective decisions by analyzing information and considering priorities
* Coordinate communications and activities among multiple groups
* Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
* Cooperate with others and coordinates work assignments to achieve team goals
* Exceptional Leadership, Interpersonal and organizational skills
* Must have ability to move merchandise, trucks and trailers when needed
* Communicate effectively with staff and customers
* Ability to work well under pressure

* Enter shipment information into systems, tools and database
* Must be able to work in cold/freezer environment (-20 degrees).

* Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
* Able to meet physical demands in work environment as generally described below


Education and/or Experience:
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration/Logistics recommended
* Minimum 5 years of working experience in similar field (Food Industry a plus).
* Forklift license required
* Demonstrates success in a fast-pace work environment


Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:
* Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP's
* Accurately completes required Food Safety & Quality records
* Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Q.A. Manager and Department Manager
* Mentor staff for implementation of food safety and quality procedure
* Attends all Food Safety/Quality meetings to develop quality and safety procedures

* Noise level for this work environment is typically low to moderate.
* Employee will be exposed to cold temperatures (-20 Degrees) at times.
