Job description

Description
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (MPSY) at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine seeks to fill eight (8) academic professional track (non-tenure) positions for full time, 11-month appointments, with anticipated start dates in the spring of 2025. Applications will be accepted at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, commensurate with qualifications.
The College of Medicine is partnering with the Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) at our campus in Round Rock and its surrounding communities to develop multiple new clinical locations that will provide both clinical care and undergraduate and graduate medical education in psychiatry. The hiring of qualified psychiatrists as faculty within the College of Medicine is a prerequisite to educating our students in psychiatric care at this location.
Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) provides comprehensive healthcare services with a strong focus on behavioral and mental health, serving patients across all age groups. LSCC's Round Rock clinic offers both primary and specialized behavioral health services with an emphasis on accessible care for underserved communities. They cater to a wide range of mental health needs through programs addressing anxiety, depression, substance use, and family support, while also offering virtual visits to extend their reach within Central Texas.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (MPSY) is recognized for its expertise in evidence-based care of psychiatric and behavioral health challenges. Our clinicians address conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and PTSD with advanced, evidence-based approaches. The department has developed a strong foundation in diagnosing and treating these disorders across diverse populations, from young adults to veterans, integrating both conventional therapies and cutting-edge treatments.
Each chosen candidate's primary academic responsibility will be in the education and teaching of medical students and psychiatric residents. The faculty member will be required to educate students and residents within both clinical and didactic classroom settings.
Each chosen candidate's secondary academic responsibility will be in the area of service. The candidate will serve as a role model for future physicians, knowledge leader for community physicians, and will provide service on departmental and clinical committees as assigned.
Each chosen candidate will also maintain an active psychiatric practice, providing high-quality evidence-based care to the population served.
This role offers the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic clinical environment while engaging in academic medicine, contributing to both patient care and medical education.
Located just 20 miles north of Austin, Round Rock and it's surrounding communities provide easy access to the culture, live music, and culinary scenes that make Austin famous, while offering a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Enjoy a blend of outdoor activities with beautiful parks, lakes, and nearby Hill Country hiking, as well as a lower cost of living than many urban centers. Round Rock is known for its high quality of life, excellent schools, and abundant recreational options, making it a perfect place to balance a rewarding career with a fulfilling lifestyle. This position is ideal for a psychiatrist who is passionate about community impact, advancing mental health care, and experiencing the best of Texas living.
