What is a trip designer?

Trip designers are travel professionals who create personalized travel itineraries and experiences for clients. They work closely with travelers to understand their preferences, budget, and interests, and then plan every aspect of the trip, including accommodations, transportation, activities, and dining. Trip designers leverage their expertise and industry connections to offer unique experiences and ensure a seamless travel process. Their goal is to save clients time, reduce stress, and provide memorable journeys tailored to individual needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a trip designer?

To thrive as a Trip Designer, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep knowledge of travel destinations, often supported by experience in the travel industry or a related degree. Familiarity with booking platforms, GDS systems, and itinerary management tools is typically required. Exceptional communication, creativity, and problem-solving abilities help build client trust and craft unique travel experiences. These skills ensure seamless, personalized trips that meet client expectations and foster repeat business.

What are some common challenges a trip designer faces when customizing itineraries for clients?

Trip Designers often encounter the challenge of balancing client preferences with logistical realities, such as budget constraints, availability, and travel restrictions. They must stay up-to-date with changing regulations, supplier offerings, and destination conditions to ensure each itinerary remains feasible and enjoyable. Additionally, Trip Designers frequently coordinate with hotels, transportation providers, and local guides, requiring strong communication and negotiation skills to deliver exceptional experiences. Adaptability and problem-solving are key, as last-minute changes or unexpected issues can arise during the planning or travel phase.

Job Details
Location: 2600 244th Ave SE, Sammamish, WA 98075
Field Trip Dates: 6/18/2026 (Thu) - 8/28/2026 (Fri)
Hourly Wage: $28.75 - $31.25
Field Trip Hours: 8:45 am - 5:45 pm (actual shifts may vary)
Our Field Trip program is designed to expose campers to activities and spaces that awaken their curiosity and passions. We value empowering our staff to be their whole, authentic selves because everyone in our community needs to feel included! Sound like something you can get behind? If so, we're looking for team members who are motivated nannies, babysitters, teachers, coaches, students, athletes, artists, and anyone ready to play hard and be goofy. As a Field Trip staff member, you'll sharpen your inherent leadership skills, learn some new ones, and collaborate with interesting people, all while immersing yourself in creativity and play.
Job Responsibilities:
Our Field Trip Planning team will prepare everything from hiring staff to planning activities, and then they will hand you the reins. While supervising both staff and campers on the Field Trip, you'll also oversee day-to-day operations, communicate with parents and guardians, and maintain a food and activity budget. You'll travel by bus (or public transportation in large cities) to multiple stops, all while having fun with kids, and of course, making sure all this happens safely. If you're interested in a career in our camps, this is a great way to gain valuable experience.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Actively supervising campers
  • Support staff to achieve optimal performance, including conducting regular check-ins and midseason evaluations
  • Ensure adherence to State and Camp Policies
  • Reporting & Recording details of notable concerns or incidents, and of injuries to campers, staff members, or self
  • Keeping track and being aware of camper allergies and dietary restrictions
  • Report spend and ensure budget adherence
  • Communicate regularly and respectfully with parents/guardians
  • Manage a host site relationship (where applicable)
  • Supply management and replenishment
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned
  • Ensure training completion of self and staff

How do you know if you're the right candidate?
  • Does the idea of guiding kids while they make decisions for themselves excite you?
  • Are you calm under pressure and able to calm those around you?
  • Are you comfortable leading groups of kids on your own while still collaborating with a team?
  • Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge & learning something new (even if a third grader is doing the teaching)?

Job Requirements (USE S&K AD MIN REQUIREMENTS BY STATE):
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 2 months experience working with camp-age children, with 1 year preferred, in either a professional, personal or volunteer setting.
  • First Aid & CPR certified prior to Day 1 of Camp (some locations may require additional certifications)

By applying and accepting an offer, you are giving Steve & Kate's permission to email or text you
Deadline to Apply: This posting is anticipated to remain open until June 1, 2026.
