POSITION OVERVIEW
Job Summary
The Unit Supervisor oversees daily operations of the nursing unit to ensure high-quality care for residents. This role involves leading and supervising the nursing team, coordinating care plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment. The Unit Supervisor fosters a collaborative work culture, facilitates communication with residents, families, and surveyors, and ensures goals related to care quality, resident satisfaction, and staff retention are met.
Roles and Responsibilities
โ€ข Oversees daily operations of the nursing unit to ensure consistent, high quality resident care.
โ€ข Supervises nursing staff while fostering accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
โ€ข Conducts daily resident rounds, identifies care needs, and addresses concerns promptly and effectively.
โ€ข Reports resident care issues to the Director of Health Services.
โ€ข Coordinates and contributes to individualized care plan development to support optimal resident outcomes.
โ€ข Participates in the nursing on call rotation and provides clinical guidance to staff as needed.
โ€ข Supports and contributes to staff performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing competency development.
โ€ข Serves as a liaison with external surveyors and agencies.
โ€ข Promotes and models customer service excellence and nursing best practices.
โ€ข Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining readiness for surveys and audits.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree
Experience: 1-3 years
Licenses and Certifications
Must have and maintain a current, valid nursing license and current, valid CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
