Position Information

Location: BKF AFB, Denver, Colorado Required Travel: 0–10% Employment Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40.00 Security Clearance: Secret Level of Experience: Journeyman to Senior

Position Overview

Trident Military Systems is seeking a COMS Technician / Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support Air National Guard (ANG) F-16 Mission Tactics Trainer (MTT) simulators. This position is responsible for sustaining simulator operations, communications architectures, and associated information systems while ensuring cybersecurity compliance in accordance with DoD and Air Force requirements.

The successful candidate will support system readiness, Distributed Mission Operations (DMO), network and communications infrastructure, Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, cybersecurity compliance, and configuration management efforts. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting abilities, knowledge of simulation and network systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a mission-focused training environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare training systems for operation in accordance with on-site operational and technical manuals.
  • Support operation of F-16 MTT devices, including Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) activities, system initialization, power-on/off procedures, and operational readiness testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and communications issues impacting simulator operations and training events.
  • Provide support for communications systems, local and wide area networks, data links, digital radio, secure systems, and related technologies.
  • Perform troubleshooting, operability testing, repairs, and modifications on simulator hardware and associated computer systems.
  • Interpret mechanical, electrical, electronic, and network schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in RMF implementation and continuous monitoring activities in support of system accreditation and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Assist with vulnerability management activities, including STIG validation, vulnerability scanning, audit reviews, and remediation tracking.
  • Support cybersecurity documentation and compliance activities, including POA&Ms, interconnection agreements, and security authorization packages.
  • Review audit logs, system backups, and vulnerability scan results to ensure compliance with DoD and Air Force cybersecurity requirements.
  • Collaborate with ISSM, FSO, program management, and site personnel to maintain system security posture and operational readiness.
  • Maintain configuration management records and generate reports supporting training device status and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, security, and local base procedures.
  • Provide technical writing support for procedures, reports, and operational documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2–9 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in electronics, cybersecurity, networking, engineering, flight simulation, military systems, or related technical fields.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST, and DoD cybersecurity requirements and guidelines.
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and security documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, network, and information systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technical documentation tools.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must possess or obtain DoD 8570 certification requirements for IAM/IAT Level II compliance prior to start date.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with RMF tools and cybersecurity applications.
  • Technical school or military training in Avionics Systems, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
  • Prior experience supporting F-16 Aircrew Training Devices, Mission Tactics Trainers, or other DoD simulation systems.
  • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) environments.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD contracts and Air Force cybersecurity compliance activities.
