Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Executive Director, in collaboration with a dedicated team of Family Center staff, and operations professionals, and as an Exempt employee, your primary responsibility will be to support the Association’s objective of membership growth and member retention through leadership of the health and wellness activities for a full facility YMCA.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•    Lead and grow personal training programs to inspire and support members in achieving their fitness goals, while driving personal training revenue and enhancing member retention.
•    Develop and manage engaging health and wellness programs, including Triathlon and Run Club, to meet the diverse needs of our community.
•    Recruit, train, motivate, and support personal trainers and fitness floor staff, fostering a collaborative, member-focused environment.
•    Spend time on the wellness floor actively engaging with members, providing guidance, and leading by example in personal training services.
•    Ensure all staff certifications are current and manage the maintenance and availability of fitness equipment and facilities.
•    Oversee the department’s budget, ensuring financial growth through personal training services while maintaining operational stability.
•    Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure a smooth experience for all members.
•    Ensure daily operations adhere to YMCA health and safety standards, maintaining a safe and welcoming space for all.
•    Provide support for YMCA special events and fundraising campaigns to strengthen community involvement.
•    Available to work weekends and take on other duties as needed to ensure the success of the department and the YMCA’s mission.

•    Increase in personal training revenue and strong client retention.
•    Growth in membership driven by personal training and fitness services.
•    High participation in Triathlon and Run Club programs, fostering community engagement.
•    Achievement of participation and engagement goals across key program areas.
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
To be successful, the candidate must meet some education, training and experience requirements and must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and physical abilities.


EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
•    A bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in exercise science or related field preferred with certification in ACE, AFAA, ACSM or CSCS. Nutrition certification is a plus but not required. 
•    Must have experience in recruiting, training and motivating people and must understand the importance of retention. 
•    Strong supervisory and leadership skills must have been obtained and demonstrated through past job experiences.
•    Broad overview of the YMCA as it operates as a local, national, and international movement.  
•    Must possess current AED/CPR/First Aid certification. 
•    Must possess the skills to operate standard office and computer equipment. Must possess effective communication, organizational and budgeting skills. Must be familiar with the basis operations of cardiovascular resistance equipment
•    Must be willing to travel extensively within Palm Beach County Area
•    Must have valid driver’s license
•    May be required to sit for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment. 
•    Must possess auditory, verbal and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person

•    Personal Development Oriented: Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance. Shares new insights. Facilitates change; models adaptability and an awareness of the impact of change.
