Job description

The Triathlon and Ybike Programs Coordinator is responsible for managing and delivering the YMCA's endurance-based and YBike programs, including triathlon, cycling, and running initiatives. This role supports the health, safety, and engagement of youth, adults, and families through high-quality instruction, community outreach, and program leadership. Programs include the YBike Program, Triathlon Program, Run Programs, Safe Routes to Schools, bicycle and pedestrian safety initiatives, and community bike trainings and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Program Development & Instruction
    • Deliver all YBike, triathlon, and run programs, including safety education and training sessions.
    • Lead endurance-based clinics, camps, and events for all ages.
    • Manage triathlon training, including structured swim, bike, and run programs.
    • Plan and coordinate races and events such as 5Ks, fun runs, cycling events, and triathlons.
    • Collaborate with schools, community groups, and race directors to increase participation.
    • Promote and implement YMCA Safe Routes to Schools initiatives.
    • Maintain and support YBike instructional programs.
  2. Program Management & Administration
    • Create and manage program schedules, registration processes, and communication.
    • Oversee equipment, vehicles, and facility needs for endurance programs.
    • Support sponsorships, fundraising activities, and grant-related efforts.
    • Track program data and prepare reports.
    • Develop and manage budgets to meet fiscal goals.
  3. Community Engagement
    • Represent the YMCA at community events, schools, and races.
    • Build partnerships with athletic clubs, bike shops, schools, and community groups.
    • Provide responsive and high-level customer service to members and families.
  4. Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all programs follow YMCA, state, and federal safety standards.
    • Maintain necessary certifications and participate in required safety training.
    • Ensure participants understand and follow all safety guidelines.
    • Oversee maintenance and safe operation of YBike equipment and vehicles.
  5. Other Responsibilities
    • Participate in YMCA special events, fundraising, and volunteer initiatives.
    • Purchase equipment and supplies as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule & Availability
• Weekday afternoons required (primary program hours).
• Weekend availability required for races, trainings, and special events.
• Flexibility needed for community partnerships and school-based programs
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Education, Recreation, Public Health, Exercise Science, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with endurance sports (cycling, triathlon, running) or bike/pedestrian safety instruction preferred.
• Experience leading athletic programs, events, or community races.
• Strong communication, organization, and computer skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse youth, adults, and families.
• Valid driver's license required; ability to tow a trailer preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to perform essential physical functions with or without accommodations.
• Passion for promoting health, fitness, and active living.
