Job description

We are seeking a Street Maintenance Utility Worker for a seasonal assignment in Ontario, Oregon. The selected candidate will work in the construction, repair and maintenance of public streets and right-of-ways.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
This position has a pay rate of $18/hr
This is a seasonal position slated to last through the fall
Responsibilities

- Inspect, repair and maintain public streets and rights-of-way, including street signs, pavement markings, trees and community relation projects
- Perform required labor involved in the construction and maintenance of pavement cutting, crack sealing, base repair, sidewalks, curb, gutter, and wheelchair ramps repair, tree removal and snow removal
- Operate all types of public works equipment (loaders, backhoes, chainsaws, welders, etc.)
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools before and after use
- Report defects or needed repairs to lead worker or supervisor
- Respond to various customer service requests and report findings to lead worker or supervisor
- May assist other public works departments as needed
Qualifications
- A valid Driver's License
- Some knowledge of road construction, tree maintenance and/or heavy equipment operation
