Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of experience, prior travel experience, and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital with 200-300 births per month
  • Unit includes 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
  • Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, high-risk antepartum, low-risk antepartum, and low-risk L&D cases
  • Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN care, pre-op, post-op, and scrub duties
  • Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
  • Provides couplet care and transition nursery support
  • Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
  • Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Floating required to Post-Partum and NICU based on skill set
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
Requirements
  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy
  • Experience administering blood and blood products
  • Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
  • Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries and circulating for C-sections
  • Experience with sterile vaginal exams and epidural anesthesia management
  • Experience with fetal monitoring and IUPC placement and calibration
  • Experience with postpartum care, wound assessment, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including triage, delivery support, and postpartum care
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate, unless accepted as a local candidate
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel candidate and cannot be within 50 miles of the facility
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
