Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AL or compact RN license and OB/high-risk obstetric experience.

Details
  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes labor patients, antepartum patients down to 27 weeks, PIH patients on magnesium, and preterm labor patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Facility performs 100-200 births per month
  • Night shift, 4x12 hour schedule, 1900-0700
  • 36 or 48 hour contract per week based on traveler preference
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • No floating required
  • Documentation systems used include Epic and GE Centricity
  • Unit responsibilities include NST, continuous fetal monitoring, fetal scalp electrode placement, IV starts, amnioinfusion, assisting anesthesia during epidural placement, and attending (not scrubbing) c-sections
Requirements
  • Active Alabama RN license (AL or compact) required at time of submission
  • Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required
  • OB Triage experience highly preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Experience working in large healthcare facilities required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required, though highly experienced candidates may be considered case-by-case
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including continuous fetal monitoring, IV starts, amnioinfusion, and assisting with epidural placement
  • Attend cesarean sections in a support capacity without scrubbing in
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply with appropriate experience
  • This is a Do Not Call facility
  • Traveler's permanent address must be at least 90 miles from the facility
  • Local candidates will not be accepted
  • Former permanent staff are not eligible for travel roles for 10 years following separation
  • Travelers must take a 6-month break after completing 2 consecutive contracts before returning, with exceptions considered case-by-case
  • Pre-start modules are required prior to beginning the assignment
