Job Description
The Capacity Planner is responsible for analyzing Driver Optimization solutions and assigning loads to HGT capacity within an assigned geographic territory. In this role, the Capacity Planner is responsible for daily market planning and effective use of capacity, meeting customer service requirements, minimizing cost through loaded miles and maximizing available driver hours. The Capacity Planner reports to the Manager, Regional Capacity Planning.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for analyzing Driver Optimization solutions and assigning loads to HGT Capacity in compliance with federal safety regulations, such as "Hours of Service" Federal Regulations, geographic considerations, equipment constraints to maximize driver utilization
  • Supports the development of market plan and is accountable for daily execution of all inbound and outbound loads for an assigned geographic territory
  • Re-plans loads when necessary due to delays, equipment failure or driver issues
  • Works with Intermodal Operations and Network Optimization to maximize equipment utilization and driver productivity
  • Proactively works with Terminal Operations, Intermodal Operations and Account Management to confirm capacity coverage in advance of anticipated customer requirements
  • Plans and implements initiatives to improve routing and equipment utilization consistent with customer expectations and Network needs
  • Accountable for meeting established metrics, including loaded miles, driver utilization, service, safety and cost per load
  • Daily, complete and resolve all outstanding load planning issues, or pending concerns and effectively communicate to the afterhours team

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • 0-1 years' experience in transportation operations (truckload or intermodal) preferred
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems in a large corporate environment preferred
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter and a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Available for weekend coverage on a rotating basis

Salary: $50,500- $55,000/year base salary + Bonus Eligibility
This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however it may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand.
