What Transportation contributes to Cardinal Health Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes.

Job Summary The Senior Transportation Coordinator works in outbound warehouse operations and is responsible for the management of all orders via the order warehouse management system, email and telephone. This job prioritizes orders based on customer demands and collaborates with the dispatch team to determine optimal transport methods (private fleet, courier, etc.). The Senior Transportation Coordinator clusters orders and strategically issues them to the warehouse for picking/ packing in an effort to effectively manage capacity

This role collaborates cross functionally with sales representatives and marketing to meet the needs of the customer and maintain customer satisfaction and quality standards. Responsibilities Serve as primary backup for the Transportation Office, performing Transportation Planner responsibilities during planned and unplanned coverage. Manage, prioritize, optimize, and release customer orders within the WMS to support transportation efficiency, warehouse productivity, and on-time delivery.

Coordinate with Transportation Consultants, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to schedule routes, ensure equipment and driver availability, and maintain regulatory compliance. Select appropriate transportation methods and carriers to meet customer requirements while supporting cost-effective transportation solutions. Collaborate with Customer Care and operations teams to fulfill rush orders, mitigate backorders, and resolve transportation-related issues.

Support warehouse operations as needed, including picking, replenishment, put-away, shipping, and other operational activities. Assists with inventory control functions, including cycle counts, returns processing, and inbound/outbound discrepancy resolution to maintain inventory accuracy. Assist with supply management, operational reporting, and administrative activities that support daily distribution center operations.

Provides coaching and guidance to associates on operational processes, safety standards, and best practices. Maintain training records and support equipment certification programs to ensure compliance and operational readiness. Serve as a cross-functional subject matter resource, supporting operational initiatives, process improvements, and a culture of safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred. 2-4 years of warehouse operations, training, shipping/receiving, or transportation planning experience preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, WMS, and RF technology. Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles preferred. Ability to work flexible schedules and hours based on business needs.

Ability to obtain MHE Train-the-Trainer certification to administer equipment certifications. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work overtime with little to no advance notice.
