Position Summary:
SAP NS2 is seeking a highly experienced SAP Transportation Management (TM) Architect to join our Business Transformation Services (BTS) team. In this role, you will help lead digital transformation initiatives for strategic customers across the U.S. Federal, Department of Defense (DoD), and regulated industries markets.
Travel: Position requires up to 50% domestic or international travel to implement SAP solutions at customer sites.
Expectations and Tasks:
This is a client-facing leadership role for a transportation management expert who can connect business strategy to SAP solution design and delivery. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, guide complex SAP TM programs from business transformation strategy planning through execution, and help customers modernize transportation and logistics operations using SAP technologies.
Support the transformation towards the Intelligent Enterprise. Lead SAP Business AI strategy for the customer -drive adoption of all AI capabilities across S/4HANA and BTP; build AI use case roadmaps aligned to business outcomes. Drive change management to achieve business transformation objectives. Drive deployment of best practice business processes for specific lines of business or industries. Support pre-sales activities. Perform solution reviews and feasibility studies. Mentor business process consultants. Support escalated projects. Support in partner-led projects to ensure ecosystem and customer success.
The ideal candidate brings deep SAP TM expertise, strong consulting and communication skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in highly regulated environments.
Core Competencies
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP TM modules including Forwarding Order Management, Freight Order Management, Transportation Planning, Carrier Selection, Freight Settlement, and Collaboration Portal
  • Deep understanding of SAP TM integration with SAP ERP/S/4HANA logistics (SD, MM, LE) and embedded TM scenarios
  • End-to-end solution architecture spanning SAP TM, ERP/S/4HANA, EWM, GTS, and third-party logistics systems (TMS, WMS, visibility platforms)
  • Expertise in transportation planning strategies: manual planning, Transportation Cockpit, optimizer-based planning (VSR), and automated freight unit building
  • Proficiency in freight order lifecycle management, tendering processes, subcontracting, and execution monitoring
  • Advanced knowledge of charge calculation, freight agreement management, rate tables, and transportation cost allocation
  • Knowledge of carrier management practices, freight procurement, contract negotiations, and service level agreements

Technical Skills
  • SAP TM configuration and customizing across all functional areas (master data, organizational structures, planning profiles, business rules)
  • Integration architecture design using SAP PI/PO, Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), Web Services (SOAP/REST), and IDoc/RFC technologies
  • Experience with SAP Fiori apps for TM, SAPUI5 development, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) extensions
  • Data migration methodologies using LSMW, SAP Data Services, or Migration Cockpit
  • Understanding of SAP TM on HANA optimization, performance tuning, and analytics capabilities

Industry Knowledge
  • Familiarity with industry best practices, benchmarks, and emerging trends (sustainability, real-time visibility, autonomous transportation)
  • Expertise in logistics and supply chain operations across multiple transportation modes (road, rail, ocean, air, intermodal)
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (customs, dangerous goods, trade compliance) and integration with SAP GTS

Consulting Competencies/Client Management
  • Proven ability to engage with C-suite executives (CFO, COO, Chief Supply Chain Officer) and influence strategic decision-making
  • Expertise in requirements gathering through workshops, interviews, and process analysis; translating business needs into technical specifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's/master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 10+ years of SAP consulting experience, including 8+ years focused on SAP Transportation Management.
  • Experience leading or playing a key role in 5 or more full lifecycle SAP TM implementations from blueprint/design through hyper-care.
  • Strong understanding of SAP TM integration with SAP ERP/S/4HANA supply chain solutions such as
    • Logistics including SD, MM, and LE.
    • Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)
    • Yard Logistics (YL)
    • Event Management (EM)
    • Global Trade Services (GTS)
  • Experience with transportation planning approaches including manual planning, Transportation Cockpit, optimizer-based planning, and automated freight unit building.
  • Understanding of complex SAP product portfolio landscape with knowledge of SAPs industry solutions and Technology platform.
  • Familiarity with transportation visibility platforms, IoT integration, and advanced analytics or AI in supply chain operations.
  • Pre-sales experience includes RFP responses, demos, proof-of-concept development, and proposal creation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) extensions.
  • Cloud transformation experience including SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud and SAP TM Public Cloud Edition.
