TheTransportation Manageris responsible for overseeing and leading all aspects of DOT transportation operations including CDL A union driver supervision, federal, state and local lawful operating compliance, equipment maintenance, operational safety and compliance and maintaining customer relations. This position will ensure adherence to all quality assurance programs, develop leadership skills in self and direct report team, while creating a safe working environment. This position requires expertise in managing CDL Class A Union Drivers, Labor Relations, training personnel, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Functions Transportation Manager:
  • The primary responsibilities of this role will be to lead and manage a team of CDL A union drivers in the transporting of perishable and nonperishable items to grocery retail stores in a dedicated contract business.
  • The Transportation Manager will work closely with associates to fully execute the scope and requirements with a focus on identifying, developing, and engineering continuous improvements in our service to the customer.
  • Take hands-on accountability for daily operations in this union environment.
  • Promote our Safety Culture and responsible for training and monitoring drivers.
  • Execute administrative duties, including but not limited to payroll, billing, payables, and various other reports.
  • Coordinate Driver schedules, routes, drive time and down time.
  • Actively work towards improving productivity and efficiency.
  • Investigate damages, accidents, and other transportation related issues.
  • Maintain accurate and complete departmental records.
  • The Manager will have knowledge of industry standards.
  • The Manager will also be responsible for the development of our staff and process improvements while maximizing technology solutions.

Transportation Manager Requirements
  • Four year college degree or equivalent experience
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of transportation or logistics experience
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of management experience in union environment
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to coach and develop associates into an effective, highly motivated results oriented team
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude
  • Creative problem solving skills and ability to evaluate multiple solutions to make sound decisions
  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate and influence positive outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office, specifically strong excel skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and thrive in a fast paced environment
