Job Summary for Transportation Manager
The Transportation Manager leads transportation operations to ensure safe, timely, and efficient vehicle movement between auction sites, dealerships, customer locations, and internal staging areas. This role manages drivers, transportation administration, scheduling workflows, and vendor coordination while ensuring compliance with company safety standards and applicable DOT requirements. The Transportation Manager drives performance through route planning, KPI monitoring, cost control, and cross-functional coordination to support auction operations and customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities for Transportation Manager:
  • Supervises Transportation Drivers (CDL and Non-CDL) and Transportation Administration staff, as assigned.

Responsibilities for Transportation Manager:
  • Oversees daily transportation operations including scheduling, dispatch coordination, route planning, and delivery execution.
  • Supervises drivers and transportation support staff by providing training, coaching, performance management, and schedule oversight.
  • Ensures transportation operations comply with DOT requirements, company safety procedures, and site operating standards.
  • Coordinates vehicle pickup and delivery requests with internal partners (Sales, Auction Operations, Customer Service) to align priorities and timelines.
  • Maintains oversight of driver documentation, logs, vehicle inspection records, and required compliance files.
  • Monitors transportation KPIs including on-time delivery, cycle time, utilization, incident trends, and service performance.
  • Manages transportation cost controls including fuel usage, maintenance coordination, vendor spend, and route efficiency improvements.
  • Oversees fleet readiness by coordinating vehicle maintenance needs, inspections, and service scheduling with vendors or internal maintenance teams.
  • Resolves escalated transportation issues, customer concerns, and service exceptions to protect customer satisfaction and operational performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities for Transportation Manager:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Good driving record.
  • Able to pass pre-employment screening.
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising drivers or transportation/logistics staff.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Microsoft proficiency.
  • A basic understanding of logistics.
  • Good leadership and training skills.
