Job description

Pay: $75,000-$85,000 Annually

Location: Springfield, MO

The Role

The Transportation Manager provides organization leadership and operational oversight for CSIs transportation and freight activities across both Distribution and Project business models. This role is responsible for establishing transportation strategy, standards, systems, and escalation frameworks while ensuring consistent, cost-effective, and reliable execution across all sites.

The Transportation Manager owns carrier relationships, transportation systems (including Epicor QuickShip and future TMS solutions), freight claims outcomes, and in-transit performance accountability. This position provides functional leadership to Shipping Coordinators across all facilities and is directly responsible for shipment tracking, exception management, claims, and import/export shipment coordination.

What Youll Do

Transportation Leadership and Strategy

  • Provide functional leadership to Shipping Coordinators
  • Establish clear guidelines for transportation related escalation across business units
  • Create training tools and provide expertise related to Incoterms/FOB codes
  • Establish enterprise transportation standards, policies, and operating procedures

Carrier and Freight Management

  • Manage parcel, LTL, FTL, expedited and international carrier relationships
  • Lead negotiations and carrier performance reviews
  • Drive freight cost control and optimization
  • Assist with spot quotes and shipment coordination for domestic freight

Transportation Systems Ownership

  • Own Epicor QuickShip and future TMS platforms
  • Partner with Business Systems and IT on system enhancements and automation
  • Establish training and usage standards

In-Transit Performance and Claims

  • Own in-transit monitoring and follow up with proactive issue resolution and communication
  • Oversee freight claims and recovery

Import and Export Operations

  • Oversee execution of import/ export shipments
  • Coordinate with forwarders and internal teams
  • Align execution with trade governance standards

Experience

  • 5+ years Transportation/Logistics experience, preferred
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, required
  • ERP (Epicor) software experience, preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

This role operates in both warehouse/manufacturing and office environments. It requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and operation of warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
