Job description

The role of Patient Transporter is to maintain safety and provide exceptional care to patients requiring assistance in moving from one location in the hospital to another including to and from the hospital, or upon discharge. This will be done in an efficient and service oriented manner that aligns with the established policies and procedures of VPNE and our partner hospital. This role also maintains the transport equipment, ensuring cleanliness and working order for transport items like wheelchairs and stretchers.
Responsibilities
  • Make service, care, and satisfaction the priority in every interaction by providing exceptional patient experiences.
  • Practice and ensure safety as a top priority at all times for all patients, hospital teams and peer coworkers.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and working order of transport equipment
  • Delivers specimens to the laboratories as necessary
  • Engage with the patient to ensure that departure from the room is smooth and comfortable.
  • Communicate consistently and appropriately with patient and valet staff to ensure the patient has a smooth transition to the vehicle.
  • Report all incidents in accordance with institutional and company policies
  • Adhere to the policies, procedures and appropriate workflows (based technology used and personal communication), as agreed upon between the institution and the company
  • Perform any other duties specifically assigned by a supervisor or manager

A successful Patient Transporter will have the following qualifications:
Years of Experience: Entry Level
Language Skills: Proficient in English both verbally and written
Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED required
Vaccinations: Records or Agree to Receive, types of which as required by institution
Requirements:
  • Able to provide outstanding and caring service to patients
  • Able to walk short and long distances, and while pushing a wheelchair
  • Able to lift, push and pull 300 pounds or more
  • Able to see, read and understand small print
  • Ability to use forms of mobile technology as trained
