OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a CAD Technician for our Midwest Heavy Civil Division in Crown Point, IN. The CAD Technician is responsible for supporting the Estimating Department with quantity take-offs and vendor solicitations, also supports field projects with CADD drawings.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop/modify CAD exhibits to support construction operations and planning
  • Prepare access and staging plans, haul routes, and site logistics exhibits
  • Create crane pick layouts, lift exhibits, and related construction graphics
  • Perform vehicle tracking for oversized and specialty deliveries (e.g., large beam transport)
  • Assist with permit exhibits and agency submittals
  • Support project managers and field teams with constructability visuals
  • Support the estimating team with earthwork quantities, takeoffs, and constructability input
  • Apply problem solving skills and creative thinking to develop practical, buildable solutions for complex construction challenges
  • Maintain organized CAD files and project documentation
  • Occasionally visit job sites to verify conditions and support construction planning

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2-year drafting/design degree or 4 years of relevant drafting experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation (required)
  • Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads experience (a plus)
  • AGTEK and 3D Lift experience (a plus)
  • Experience with 3D modeling, surfaces, and visualization (a plus)
  • Familiarity with heavy civil construction means and methods
  • Strong understanding of constructability and field coordination
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
