JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Looking forqualified people to join us in one of the premier energy companies in theWest. Located in the fastest growing state in the United States, our clientprovides electricity to 1.3 million customers throughout Nevada as well asa state tourist population exceeding 40 million annually. Among the manycommunities we serve are Las Vegas, Reno-Sparks, Henderson, Elko and SouthLake Tahoe. We also provide natural gas to more than 155,000 citizens inthe Reno-Sparks area.
  • Candidates selected for thisassignment will be in the Reno office 100%, 40-hour week.Focus will be on Large GeneratorInterconnection projects that include high voltage transmission andsubstation scope.

Basic Purpose
  • Coordinates the successfuldevelopment and execution of project plans, including safety, scope, cost,schedule, cash flow, quality and risk for large multi-discipline complexprojects. Provides management and coordination to ensure projectdeliverables are met, completed on-time and within the established costconstraints.Works with minimalsupervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Executes the project planupon approval.Coordinatesacquisition of human resources, equipment, permits, land and landrights.Monitors and controls theproject, including safety, scope, cost, schedule, cash flow, quality andrisk.Measures and communicatesproject performance to customers and stakeholders.Manages changes to the project plan.Ensures all project objectives are achieved. 30%
  • Works with customers andstakeholders to develop and evaluate project alternatives. 15%
  • Coordinates the developmentof project plans, including project scope, cost estimates, schedule andcash flow.Project plans will alsoinclude consideration for safety, environment, land use, regulation, humanresources, communication, procurement, reliability, quality and risk. 15%
  • Coordinates the developmentof the project team, including stakeholders and functional groupmembers.The team may includepersonnel from transmission planning; distribution planning; civil,substation and transmission engineering; project controls; linesconstruction and maintenance; substation construction and maintenance;system protection; telecommunications; meter services; constructionadministration; distribution design; system operations; land resources; environmentalservices; procurement; government affairs; major accounts; economicdevelopment and legal departments as the project requires. 10%
  • Supports development,approval, and administration of the business unit ten-year plan forcapital investment. 10%
  • Coordinates negotiation,execution, and administration of agreements with customers, suppliers,service providers, and contractor resources.10%
  • Coordinates projectclose-out, including final acceptance of project deliverables; transfer ofownership; status of project id; project accounting audit and true-up; andfinal project report. Mentors less experienced project management andproject controls personnel. 10%
  • Ensures all complianceaspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies withall policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company

Requirements
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree inEngineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accreditedschool; 7 or more years of related experience in utility design and/orutility experience; and 2 or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience managing LargeGenerator Interconnections a plus.
  • Utility engineering practiceswith an emphasis on transmission and substation design; critical pathmethod scheduling; work breakdown structure; utility accounting practices;economic analysis; company policies, rules and regulations; constructionmethods; contract administration; equipment specifications; propertyrights; and local, state and federal permitting.
  • Directing, coordinating, andreviewing the work of multi-discipline project team.
