Overview

In business since 1919 and still growing! Arrow is a diversified transportation, logistics, and materials handling company with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. Arrow is a leader in Reload Operations, partnering with Class 1 railways in the U.S. to inventory and transfer product between truck, rail and container shipping to for delivery to satisfied customers. Arrow Reload specializes in the transloading of commodities (steel, lumber, liquid bulk, dry bulk, etc.) from truck/railcar to railcar/ truck and/or containers

We are looking for a Shunt Truck Driver to help ensure that the reload facility is running smoothly by moving empty and loaded trailers to and from various locations within the yard. This role will require the ability to maneuver park, back and dock trailers.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a shunt truck
  • Move trailers around yard to various locations as instructed
  • Operate high capacity forklifts (up to 15,000lbs)
  • Loading and unloading lumber, steel and engineered wood products from trucks, railcars or containers
  • Offloading railcars using an RBT conveyor 
  • Placing liners in containers
  • Maintenance of fleet equipment (e.g. wash and paint equipment)
  • Follow maintenance testing and repairs procedures of products
  • Keep yard and equipment neat and organized
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
  • Establish or adjust daily tasks/schedules to meet changing order priorities
  • Provide internal and external customer service excellence
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of yard operations
  • Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
You Possess
  • Previous experience driving a shunt truck, yard truck, or fifth wheel
  • Experience working in a rail yard is an asset
  • Experience transloading is an asset
  • Experience operating a forklift is an asset
  • Experience working with computers is an asset
  • Ability to maneuver, park, back up, and dock trailers
  • Can carry at least 50lbs and swing a 10lbs sledge hammer
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind)
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good physical condition
